First and foremost, I’d like to thank everyone for participating all these years. I am really enjoying it and will keep going as long as I can. Second, I have always wanted SmackFootball to be absolutely free and I will keep it that way.
In the last few years, a few players have expressed a desire to help me pay the costs for Smackfootball.
SmackFootball does NOT cost much. I pay to host the site and I do all of the coding and web design work. So that is just labor. The only real out-of-pocket expenses are for the trophies. I buy each winner a crystal football trophy each year from CrownAwards.com and have it engraved. It’s pretty nice. It’s heavy and not too big.
So the trophy costs around $55. This is not going to break me. Haha. But for those of you who would like to donate something, THIS is where the money would go. I will set up a GoFundMe.com page to accept donations and if the goal is reached each year, I will simply suspend the account until the next year.
2021 Update!
I have decided that it would be cool to update the travel trophy this year to something a little bigger and more obnoxious. So I’m going to get a Big A$$ Trophy to replace the football. This will be a perpetual trophy similar to the Stanley Cup where the winner gets the trophy and keeps it all year and returns it to the next winner each year. But your name will be permanently engraved on it. Here on this page is a stock photo of the trophy that I am going to buy. It’s going to cost about $180 after taxes and will have all previous winners plates already engraved. How cool is that?
